THANKFUL

For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
Hebrews 4:2
The gospel is preached, and people hear God's love-story to them,
Some who hear do not believe, and the result is that God has to condemn.
The reason for condemnation is because they will not believe,
Anyone can change this though, they only have to receive.
When the lost mix God plan of salvation with faith, they are saved,
By doing this the road to heaven by Jesus's great love is paved.(RP)

We are thankful for the coolers which brought down the temperature in the house considerably yesterday. And last night our bedroom was 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the house. Margie got sick after lunch and was not able to attend prayer meeting. Thankfully when I returned, she was much better. As soon as I get this sent off, I must get the garbage can out to the street for the afternoon pick up, and also fertilize the rose bush and flowers and hanging basket. That is a weekly schedule. Trust you are all well. Thanks for praying.

90 DEGREES F.

And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Himto whom we must give account.Hebrews 4:13

Some may think they can hide from God; how deceived they are,
They try to keep away from Him, but really they are not very far.
These souls must give an account to God who is their Judge,
And we know that on that day not one of them can hide or fudge.
We pray that all who have no relationship with Jesus today,
Will come to Him and receive Him as Lord and never run away.(RP)

The weatherman said today the temperature will get to 90 or above in some parts of our county. We are prepared. The evaporative cooler that just arrived worked well yesterday on its trial run. We had to turn it another direction because the force of the cold air was too much for Margie. I turned it on me. I am glad to have it. This morning is hair day for Margie, and this afternoon is prayer meeting. We look forward to this. We trust your day goes well. Thanks for praying.

MOVING ALONG

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.  John 3:3

God's entrance exam into Heaven, is spelled out in words clear and plain,
Being born again is commanded, and without this there is great pain.
Jesus died on the cross to save us from sin and it's up to us to believe,
When you decide to give Jesus your life and your all, new life you will then receive.
God's kingdom will never be seen, by those who refuse His gift.
Accept Him today without delay and receive from Him a great lift.(RP)

Things just keep moving along. We just lost a long-time friend, Bert Holtrop. He had suffered a lot lately with his heart. We plan on attending the memorial service in a couple of weeks.  Yesterday Margie got a good foot treatment from the specialist. We shopped while in town. We were glad to be home. On the front porch was the new evaporative cooler I order when we had the really hot weather. This week it returns, so it arrived just in time.  Thanks for your prayers,

FOOT DOCTOR

Psalms 71:6
By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother's womb. My praise shall be continually of You.

God sustained us since before the day we were born.
And by His wonderful grace all our days he will adorn.
Our response to His loving care is one of continual praise,
And this should go on for all of our God-ordained days.(RP)

This morning we take Margie to her regular foot doctor. While in town we will do some extra necessary shopping, taking advantage of the trip. The weatherman promises warmer weather now so we will be looking forward to our new swamp cooler which we ordered several days ago. It will give some added cool air which our present machines don't seem to do very well. Thanks for your prayers.

SUNDAY BLESSING

The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life--
of whom shall I be afraid.
Psalms 27:1

Thank God our fears are gone in Christ; He is my salvation and light,
And because I trusted Him as my own, I know I did what was right.
Now I do not fear, because He is my protector and guard,
And no matter what comes my way, for Him nothing is too hard.
He is now my stronghold, and my place of constant peace and rest,
Because I chose Him to be my Savior, my decision was the best.
(RP)
We were blessed Sunday by hearing the testimony of a man in the Navy Seals.  He and his wife gave an inspirational testimony of their walk with the Lord and how He worked mightily in their lives. It was truly a wonderful time listening to this godly couple. Our son and grandsons joined us at church which was nice. They went back to Stanwood in the afternoon. The weather continues cool but will now warm up this week. Thanks for praying.

GREAT WEEK

And be kind to one another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
Ephesians 4:32

This is the hardest commandment to obey if your are not living for the Lord,
Put Jesus in His rightful place and I assure you He will be your great reward.
Kindness to all is God's command, and besides this, tenderhearted be,
These are possible only through Him, and to this fact none can disagree.
A forgiving heart is a precious thing, made possible by His great love,
And this is because He forgave us; all a beautiful gift from above.
(RP)
This has been a great week for us. Margie has done real well in preparing meals for our son who has been with us for the week. We tried to encourage her not to push herself, but she wanted to make some desserts, etc. She did. Today we go to Sunday School and church. A special speaker will be there and our son and grandson will also attend. The weather has been definitely cooler. Margie really likes it this way. Thanks for praying.

SLOW WEEK

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Philippians 3:20

Believers have dual citizenship; one in heaven and the other here,
How great to know we have a home up there; this give us cheer.
Because our home is in heaven, we anxiously look forward to it,
And what joy fills our hearts when we gladly to God's will submit.
If you are not sure of your destiny, trust Christ as Savior right now,
He will give you eternal life, and your life He will richly endow.(RP)

For some reason this has been a slow week for us. There is nothing wrong with that, it just seems different. Today in our city is the big parade. We will not attend, but many will, including our family. They have a choice spot already chosen where they will sit and enjoy the goings-on.  Margie and I will be here at home.  Yesterday we tackled a much-needed job of cleaning out the refrigerator. We are glad that is done. It rained almost all day yesterday. It was just a gently drizzle but the earth needed the moisture. We trust today will be a good one for you. Thanks for praying.

FERNDALE ACTIVITIES

1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

The devil wants to get us, and he'll try everything he can,
He is well practiced and has done it since the world began.
You better be on your toes. because he is after you right now,
And will use everything in his arsenal to make you at his feet bow.
Be strong in the Lord right now, and He will fight faithfully for you,
His strength in you will be powerful and He will see you through.(RP)

The Ferndale yearly Old Settlers Parade and activities are traditional for this town. Our family is here to witness part of it. Margie and I will not be going. There is a children's parade today and tomorrow the big one. We have plenty to keep us busy around here each day. We are hoping Margie is feeling better today. She finished the day yesterday sort of sickish. We attended the prayer meeting at church but before it was over, she got sick.  Today is fertilize the flowers day, so I must get out there and do it. Trust you all have a good day. Thanks for praying.

NOT SO GOOD

Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.

God's servants were chosen by Him long ago even before they were born,
And His mercy called them to Himself so His message they would adorn.
He knows all about them this verse tells us now, even from their mother's womb,
And He understands all that will happen to them from that time until the tomb.
God's messengers are sanctified and ordained for a reason so very divine,
All fit into the heavenly plan and were made ready for it by God's design.(RP)

Margie did not have a good night. I will awaken her later on.  She prepared lunch for us yesterday, and even made another rhubarb cobbler which was delicious. Today she will have a bigger day, because she goes to the hairdresser this morning and in the afternoon we go to afternoon prayer meeting at the church. Thanks so much for praying.

PLENTY TO DO

Mark 9:23-24
Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes. Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!

Our cry to God today should be: please help me Lord believe,
So that greater things for you my Lord, I may everyday achieve.
With You all things are possible, and I want to experience this,
Please help me in my prayers, to never ask anything amiss.(RP)

There is always plenty to do. Today fits that very well. It's wash day. I do that to save Margie walking up and down the stairs. I prefer her not to do that exercise. Rawlie is here and he wants me to join him for coffee later on.  I will take advantage of the trip to get some extra things at the grocery store. As I said yesterday the weather is much cooler. I ordered another evaporative cooler but then the cool weather came. Perhaps we will need it in August. Thanks for your prayer support.

COOLER

Now I beg you, brethren, through the Lord Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit, that you
strive together with me in prayers to God for me.
Romans 15:30

We must never be shy in asking for prayer; it is the right thing to do,
Paul encourages his friends to strive with him in prayers, not a few.
The need for prayer by all of us is as urgent as the air we inhale,
We should never neglect this, or grow tired or completely fail.
Come boldly to the Throne of Grace, and let your prayer be heard,
For this is what God expects from us and is by Him highly preferred.
(RP)
It certainly was cooler yesterday. The wind was blowing briskly most the day. Our son is here and we enjoy having his company. Today I see the audiologist for a regular check up on my hearing devices. I will do some shopping while in town. Margie will be preparing a meal for us. We trust you all have a great day. Thanks for praying.

CHURCH SERVICE AT THE PARK

Psalm 18:6
In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.

God's ear is tuned to what we say; He hears our prayers each day,
And we may think our prayers are not heard; God says it's all okay.
No matter what our emotions, we can come and tell Him all,
And to God it makes no difference if our burden is heavy or small.
Just learn to come to Jesus with your heart in tune with His,
You will know His blessing as he accepts the problem as it is. (RP)

The church service yesterday was held at the Hovander Park in Ferndale. A large covered area where all could be sheltered from the scorching sun makes it an ideal place. In fact because it was still in the morning, Margie had to have her coat on it was so cool. We had a leisurely day at home the rest of the day. It was hot and the coolers kept things under control pretty well.  Last night Rawlie returned to Ferndale where he has the week off from work so will work on one of their houses here. Margie was awake for a couple of hours during the night but seems to be okay this morning. Thanks for praying.

WARM

Romans 1:20-21
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

God's portrait of man's heart is sad; how far away his drifting has gone,
The devil is calling from everyplace and to him many are sadly drawn.
Our Lord's handiwork is seen in the world; they have no excuse.
Their rejection of him is sad, and more darkened hearts they produce.
Refusing God's grace is an awful thing; hearts grow dark and without hope,
And the more they reject God's offer of hope, the more they are unable to cope.(RP)

It was a very warm day yesterday and I believe today will be the same. With our coolers, however, we kept quite comfortable. At night our bedroom was 72 degrees when the rest of the house of was 81 or more. What a difference. Margie prepared lunch for our son and grandson who were in Ferndale working on one of their houses. I did some more preparatory work on the Genesis study for the Bible class which will stdart again Sept 4.  Time flies. Today we may attend the outdoor church service in our local park. We will only do this if Margie feels up to it. We would not stay for the picnic lunch after the service. Thanks for your prayers.

THE DAY AFTER

Numbers 13:30
Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.

We need more men like Caleb, who will trust God for all they need,
And go out to seek what God wants, with determination and speed.
His faith led him onward, encouraging his fellow men to advance,
And before them was an opportunity, and oh what a timely chance.
Caleb's faith is noteworthy, because he never gave failure a thought,
He obeyed orders explicitly each day, and kept doing what he ought.(RP)

Obviously yesterday was the day after. We were pretty tired after the 541 mile trip even though I only drove two hours of it. Margie awakened with a heavy case of vertigo, but thankfully that dissipated as they day wore on.  I had a little shopping to do, and we were glad to spend the rest of the day quietly at home. Margie made some phone calls and I worked on thinning out the accumulated e-mail: about 235 of them that came in while we were gone for the day. Our son arrived last night and will be with us for the day and part of tomorrow. We thank all who prayed for our trip to Moses Lake. Margie did the best on that trip that could be expected. We were all amazed. Thanks so much for praying.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Psalm 25:5
Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.

We come to the Lord sincerely in prayer, asking these things today,
Oh how we need Him each day we live as we walk along the way.
His truth must guide us and teach us His ways;this is what we need,
We are assured of His presence and help as upon His Word we feed.
He saved us and keeps us in our daily walk, and upon Him we depend,
Thank God for His help at every turn; in our daily battles He will defend.

Yesterday we celebrated Margie's birthday by having our son and grandson drive us to a memorial service for our friend Jessie Schlener, in Moses Lake, WA.  We left at 6:30 in the morning and arrived home at 9:30. Margie did remarkably well. It was a definite answer to prayer. The service was a blessing. I represented ABWE in bringing a word to the family. Rawlie was able to see several of the Schlener children who were in the Amazon 57 years ago when we were there. It was a very special day. Rawlie treated us to Margie's birthday celebration dinner  at Perkins restaurant in Ellensburg, WA on our return trip yesterday.  Margie and I were glad to be home.  I had driven 2 hours of the trip, Nathan and Rawlie the rest of the 541 miles trip. Thanks for your prayers. It was obvious a direct answer to prayer for Margie to be able to do so well on the trip.

MOSES LAKE

We took sweet counsel together, And walked to the house of God in the throng.
Ps 55:14
When these words were penned so long ago by King David we are sure,
No cars were seen, just animals, that might transport the throng
But there was joy in the hearts of His, as they walked to the house of God,
And sweet counsel ruled the day for sure, and God was the theme of their
song.(RP)

As you read this we are traveling to Moses Lake, WA to attend the funeral of good friend Jessie Schlener who died last Thursday. She and her husband Paul pioneered in the Amazon jungles and a small village was named after them: The Port of Two Brothers.  John and Paul and their wives were missionaries there for many years. After language school tdo learn the Portuguese language, Margie & I joined these two couples in Santa Rita (Later called The Port of Two Brothers)  So 57 years ago we worked with them. We will represent our former mission board ABWE at the funeral.  Our son, Rawlie is driving us to Moses Lake, WA.  We are grateful for his doing this for us. And we heard last night that our grandson will also be with us.Please pray Margie will be able to take the trip ok.  Thanks for praying.

DAY BEFORE

Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. 1 John 2:18

Many years ago John talked about the Antichrist, and others that were there,
We think the world is evil now, but in his time there was great despair.
After all the many years since then, we know things now are very bad,
And when we talk of godless deeds, the world has really gone mad.
We believe as others do, that we are living in the last days,
So live for Jesus every day, because when you do it really pays.(RP)

This is the day before we leave, Lord willing, for Moses Lake and the memorial service for Jessie Schlener. Margie has made a check list. She gets her hair done this morning.  We plan tomorrow to drive and pick up our son in Stanwood, Washington and he will drive us to the destination.  It is so nice of him to offer. We deeply appreciate it. So, today we will be getting ready for the short trip eastward. I had the car serviced yesterday and the tank filled the day before. Thanks so much for praying. We appreciate it.

MAINTENANCE

In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.
Ephesians 3:12

We have the Lord who is available, access to Him is sure,
We come boldly to Him in prayer, whether wealthy or poor.
Our confidence is based on faith in Christ, this is the entrance pass,
And thank God for the privilege of prayer that nothing can surpass.(RP)

The car goes in for a regular check-up and maintenance before we leave for our trip Thursday. Our plan is for us to pick up Rawlie at his home in Stanwood early Thursday morning. That will take about an hour off the four hour total of travel to the destination of Moses Lake, Washington. The weather has turned cooler but we still were glad for the coolers yesterday afternoon in our house.  Yesterday Margie saw the eye doctor who is prescribing another vision clinic near Seattle to try and get some help for Margie's reading. This one honors the insurance we have so that will be a blessing. Thanks for praying.

DECISION

My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up. Psalm 5:3
What an important way to begin our day is suggested here today,
The king promised God that in the morning He would hear him pray.
This was not a misdirected prayer; it is said to be directed to Him,
It is God's way to pray this way; it's not just up to man's whim.
King David looked up when he prayed; this direction is always best,
How special to talk to our Father this way and in His care always rest.(RP)

We made a decision over the weekend, to attend the funeral service for Jessie Schlener, our long-time friend. The service will be in Moses Lake, Washington and our son Rawlie, graciously offered to drive us there. How nice is that!  We deeply appreciate his kindness. Please pray for the trip on Thursday, July 16th.  Margie really wants to attend. Of course her health is more fragile, but she is determined at this point to give it a try. It will be a little over 4 hours one way.  And we plan to return home the same day. Margie is not too keen about staying overnight at a motel.  There is just too much involved with medication, etc., to attempt that. So thank you for praying about this with us. We appreciate it.

DEATH OF A FRIEND

Leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.  - Matthew 5:24

Sometimes among believers tensions appear; God want us to settle them now,
He tells us in language so very plain, what exactly to do and explains how.
God's way is the best and always will be; so brethren, do not let problems arise,
Go to one you have wronged, and make things right looking straight into his eyes.
Then bring your gift and present it to God; your heart will be right and be at peace,
Just keep on doing things God way and your joy and contentment will increase. (RP)

Yesterday Jesse Eaton from ABWE called asking if I knew how to get in contact with Paul Schlener. Jessie, Paul's wife, died. We were shocked. I called a pastor in Seattle who gave me the cell phone number of the pastor of the church where Paul Schlener is a member. Following that I did a lot of Facebook searches and wrote notes to Paul's children, who were children when Margie & I lived on their mission station in Brazil on the Amazon River. Yesterday we also attended the 50th anniversary of Roger and Ilene Engler at our church.  Our son Rawlie and wife Gina were there also. It was an event-filled day for sure. Thanks for praying.

AIR QUALITY

Acts 10:43
To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.

The HIM in our verse means Jesus; all the prophets wrote about Him,
The Bible is full of Jesus, and if any disagree, they are out on a limb.
The prophets plainly spoke of Him, in the Old Testament long ago,
And the Scriptures paint word pictures of Him, that with rare beauty glow.
The message of all these stories is this, Jesus will save you from sin,
And those who receive Him as Savior will have His peace and love within.(RP)

Our friend flew back from Salem yesterday and is doing okay with this weather. Even though there is still some smoke, she says it's tolerable. Today our son and his wife are coming to work on their Vista property.  In the afternoon we will all be at the church for the 50th anniversary celebration of Roger and Ilene Engler. We look forward to this. Thanks for praying.

AIR QUALITY

Let all that you do be done with love.
1 Corinthians 16:14

A big order confronts us today; the command is very tough,
Most think they can easily do it; but I declare that is not enough.
God expects us to do everything with love; how can you do that?
If you do not have some outside help, I tell you, things will fall flat.
God is love and those who belong to Him demonstrate that love,
So by claiming Jesus as your Lord, you have His help from above.
Begin to day to act in love, and let the world see Jesus in you,
Your reward will be great and He will be honored by everything you do.(RP)

Our friend had to go to Salem, Oregon to escape the pollution in the air caused by raging fires in the area. Any one with allergies knows all about the danger this is for a person. Fortunately Margie has been okay so far. Still today the weather report is speaking of pollution. Yesterday Margie had her hair done and in the afternoon we attended prayer meeting. She went with her new rollator/wheelchair our son purchased for her. It was swell and much more comfortable to sit in than the other machine. We appreciate greatly this gift from our son and his wife. We don't have any scheduled appointments today.  What a break! Thanks for praying.

MORE WRITING

Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

Some things we think will last forever, but God has something to say,
His words, He declares, are here for good, and will never pass away.
God will revamp all of heaven and earth in a future day he declares,
And when He does, it shows to all, just how much our loving Lord cares.
Our prayer is that you will come to the Lord, and receive Him as your own,
Then you'll realize something great indeed; with Christ you'll never be alone.(RP)

Margie had a tooth filled yesterday, and I did some shopping while she was at the dentist. In the afternoon I continued on our writing for the next book. Margie corrects them. Some day when we are able, we will have the pages edited before finding a printer.Even though there was a slight cooling trend yesterday, by afternoon we needed the swamp coolers. We are glad we have them. Thanks for praying.

GARDEN LUNCHEON

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.Galatians 6:7

Deception is the devil's tool to keep men far from Him,
But God's not mocked with men's routines,What he sows will be reaped and It'll be grim.(RP)

Yesterdays luncheon at DeMerchants in Ferndale, was very nice. Their beautiful flower garden is something to behold. I took many pictures. Believe it or not, for us, it was cool.  I had to get my jacket from the car and Margie borrowed another one from the hostess. Yesterday our son purchased for us a very practical rollator/wheelchair. Now when I shop, I don't have to leave Margie in the car. She can go with me and when she tires, she just sits down and I push her around.  It is really a great idea. Another plus of this machine is the nice wide seat and foam rubber backing, making it very comfortable. This morning I take Margie to the dentist for a filling. Thanks for praying.

COOLER

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.Revelation 21:4

There is coming a day when tears will be gone; God will wipe them away,
And death will be no more and we can all shout What a wonderful day.
No more sorrow nor crying in that beautiful land, for it will be heaven at last,
And the best thing of all is that forever all negatives are a thing of the past.(RP)

Margie was relieved with the cooler temperature yesterday. She did a lot in the kitchen, preparing lunch for our son and also a special dish to take to the missionary outdoor garden meeting today. Our son left and went home mid afternoon. It was nice having him here. We trust you have a good day also and thanks so much for your prayers.

COFFEE

He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 1 John 5:12

To know if you are born again just look into God's Book,
Open it to the verse right here and take a very good look.
If you have Jesus as your own, you know you're born again,I
f any questions you, tell them you were saved, and when.(RP)

This morning Rawlie & I will have coffee together then I will shop a little for Margie.  Last night we had a delightful visit via Skype with Harold , my brother, and also with Siang, in Singapore. The joy of Skype! Last night the fireworks were much less, so sleep was not hindered.  But it was very hot yesterday. Margie started to feel ill so rested in her bed. Our bedroom is delightful with the swamp cooler and is the coolest place in the house. I am looking online today trying to find another swamp cooler sufficient for our needs. Thanks so much for praying.

FIREWORKS

Jeremiah 17:9-10
The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.

The Lord knows our heart and how deceitful and wicked it is,
He sees all that goes on; no one needs to give Him a quiz.
I am glad He searches the heart, because we need that today,
And for sure I want Him to do it for me, all along the way.
Thank you Lord for testing my mind, so much passes through it,
I want to let you rule my mind, as everything to you I submit.
I know you reward those who are faithful to you; may it be so with me.
I want my life to count for you O Lord, so that my life with you will agree.(RP)

We thought there would be no fireworks last night. Everything is so dry and fires abound in our state. Nevertheless last night was a "boom" around here. I shut the sliding door in our bedroom to cut down on the noise a little. We did okay and slept fairly well.  Last night we went over to the Vista House where we met a family for the first time and it was such a nice time.  Today we look forward to attending church. The temperature is 70 degrees F. and we imagine that will go up considerably before this afternoon.  We trust you all have a good day. Thanks for praying.

JULY 4th

Philippians 4:11-12
Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

In life we learn much about contentment; it does not come easy for some,
They may have little or have too much; each learns the lessons that come.
When we learn to cope with what comes our way, we are blessed indeed,
And God is pleased when we do it His way and learn through this to succeed.(RP)

We are grateful for the meaning of Independence Day. We thank God for our country and pray God's blessings on it. We pray also for revival in the land.
Our family arrives today for some family celebrations. Margie & I will be content to stay at home. The warm weather is still with us, but we keep cool with the evaporative coolers. Thanks for your prayers.

SLOWDOWN

And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. Luke 14:27

Cross bearing for Jesus is God's demand; it is His will for us,
Christ requires identity, or else there's nothing to discuss.
One cannot be His disciple if he does not do His commands,
One may refuse His call because he misunderstands.(RP)

There seems to be a slowdown in activity today. Some neighbors have already traveled and I even notice the radio programs are special holiday fill-ins and the regular announcers are not there. I am sure of one thing, however. I know the highways will be filled with cars. The threat of fires has cut down on fireworks also. Many are choosing not to use them because of the threat. Margie is not feeling on top of things this morning. She may want to see the chiropractor. Thanks for praying.

MONTHLY SCHEDULE

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.Ephesians 1:3

Believers in Christ have blessings galore; this is God's promise today,
These spiritual blessings are His love-gift to us; we thank Him and pray.
God is not stingy in giving these things; every blessing is ours to enjoy,
We gladly accept them and earnestly endeavor each one to employ.(RP)

Each month we are the guests of Armond Daws, our dear friend of many years, at Anthony's in Bellingham.  It is a wonderful place to eat and we enjoy so much Karl and Linda's company also at the meal. Linda is Armond's daughter. He lives with them in Marysville, WA.  We had such a good time and a wonderful meal. It was hot outside, so the air conditioned interior was a delight.  Today we are in the every-week schedule of "Hair and Prayer".  In some parts of the county today the temperature may hit 90 degrees.  Thanks for praying.

WASH DAY

Ephesians 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her...

There certainly would be less problems in the home, if men loved their wives like this,
But I'm afraid many go their own ways, and most of God's rich blessings they miss.
Oh that men would listen to Jesus, and begin to love as He taught us to love,
Homes would be healed, and Jesus' presence so real, as they learn from Him above.(RP)

Wednesday around our house is wash day. The beds are remade and washing begins. We are grateful for washing machines. We remember how it was in the Amazon. We are invited tonight to have a meal with friends at a nice restaurant in Bellingham. We look forward to that. I will endeavor to get some more chapters written, or at least started for our next book. The total thus far is 153.  Thanks for praying.
