NO SCHEDULE

To know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.  Ephesians  3:19

Some things are hard to understsand,as we read God's Word day by day,
It is good to pay heed to what is said because it gives strength along the way.
To know God's love fully- impossible- you say, and so very right you are,
But we have His love deep within our souls, because He saved us and brought us this far.
As we live in communion with Him each day there is more He wants us to know,
And He'll fill us with all He wants us to have and help us in our walk here below.(RP)

Wow, no schedule today. There is plenty to do, but no pressing obligations. Our son and part of his family will be coming up for Sunday. Good friends, missionaries, will be speaking Sunday, and they want to be here. Thanks for praying.

WARM-UP

Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification.Rom. 15:2

To build up others is our task with words and prayer and work,
And this may seem a meager task but doing it we must,
So start to please your neighbor now and give the gospel clear,

By preaching Christ to a dying world for this is our noble trust. (RP)

The warm weather is returning again for a few days. It is not even warm weather by many standards. Temperatures in the 70's is delightful, and that is what is forecast. We have our full Thursday today with enough to keep us busy, plus I have an elder meeting tonight. Margie often has to go to the family room and sleep in her lift chair, because sleep just does not come while she is in bed. It is strange, but we are glad she starts in the family room, then moves back into the bedroom and finishes out the night. Thanks for praying.

MORE TIME

Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me. Psa 50:15

A word from God to each of us when trouble comes our way,
We are to call upon Him and he hears exactly what we say.
Delivery is promised for those who will call and this is God's Word to you,
So receive it with joy and glorify God and never to Him be untrue.(RP)

I have more time to study for Sunday School now, because next Sunday we all meet to hear a missionary. Yesterday we worked with a couple our son had first helped, because they are going to Alaska to work in the fishing business. He already has employment but the ferry trip, needed for his car, is pricey. Thankfully it all got taken care of and the couple is grateful. So are we. Thanks for praying.

CHANGE OF PACE

I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; with my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 89:1

Even though we may not sing, our hearts sing praises to Him,
He is near us all the time and with Him hope never grows dim.
We pledge to speak to others of His wonderful grace to us,
And be ready always this very important issue to discuss.(RP)

Now with no Friday Bible classes until September, I started working again on our Shepherd's book. Last night we even together came up with a name for it. We are pleased. Now I must get the remaining chapters to the kind person, Laurel Hicks, who is editing for us. Maybe if all goes well, we can find a publisher who will not charge an arm and a leg, and get it to the public before Christmas. Thanks for praying about this with us.

THANKFUL

Psalms 33:12
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance.

A blessing is here promised to those who will heed God's call,
He will be their Savior if they truly seek Him and at his feet fall.
He calls them chosen, and what a privilege to have this name,
To always seek His will in our way should be our desired aim.
Rest in the promise of God; let Him lead each step of the way,

Stay in His word and read often, and always be willing to pray.(RP)

We are thankful for the Lord's help for the Friday Bible class, Sunday School and preaching service Sunday. The Lord indeed gave strength to minister those three times in a row.  After church a couple from our church took us for lunch and we had such a good time. Admittedly, I was tired and slept a couple of hours in the Lazy Boy recliner.  Today I am going a bit slower as we move into this week's chores. Thanks for praying.

BIG DAY

Psalm 118:24This is the day the LORD has made;We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Lord, I'm glad you made this day for us, it's beautiful indeed,
Help me rejoice and happy be as Your Word I study and read.

This morning will have me teaching a Sunday School class and preaching in the morning service. I am glad to be able to be of service. Rawlie leaves this morning, and it has been real nice having him here these days. Now that the Friday class is over for the summer, we will try to get some other things done that have been on hold for a while. Thanks for praying.

SUMMER WEATHER

Philippians 1:21For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Believers in Christ have a choice to make as they travel in this life,
With firm convictions and a steadfast goal, each can weather the strife.
To live for Christ should be the goal of each one in this race,
And by doing so the traveler soon learns much about God's grace.
And no matter what the lot in life, whether length of days or short,
We learn that even death itself is a God-given heavenly support.(RP)

According to the weatherman, we will have summer today and tomorrow. It was warm yesterday but we did not have to use the coolers. Today may be a different deal. Rawlie is with us and this morning we plan on having coffee together at the local grocery store/Starbucks. I will spend part of the day reviewing our Sunday School lesson on Joshua and the morning message. Yesterday I stuffed and baked 10 green peppers. At least that is one thing I can do and it helps with the meals. Trust your day goes well. Thanks so much for praying.

LAST CLASS FOR SUMMER

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men...Colossians 3:23

We are not in the dark when it comes to God's will, for He tells us in words clear and plain,
So don't do things your way my friend, or I am sure that some day you'll complain.
We should heartily serve the Lord, doing all for the glory of His name,
And what joy will be ours when we work ,and His holy name proclaim.(RP)

This morning we have our last class for this summer. It will resume, Lord willing, September 8. We have plenty to keep us busy over the summer. I am starting a new class in Sunday School on the book of Joshua. I am looking forward to this. The first class will be Sunday. Thanks for praying.

RAWLIE'S VISIT

John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease

Simple, but oh so profound, are the words before us today,
Christ must have all of us, if we want His blessing along the way.
Decrease yourself by magnifying the Lord in all you do,

He will guide you and help, as His will you pursue.(RP)

Rawlie is with us for a few days, because the floors in his house are being refinished. Because of the heavy fumes from paint, and all the dust, it is better not to be in the house. So his family members are scattered in different places. Today I take Margie to the hairdresser, and in the afternoon we attend prayer meeting at the church. Thanks for praying.

COUNTDOWN TO SUNDAY

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'Jer 33:3

Lord, You tell me to call and You will hear,
Even I can understand this.
May I obey Your command today?

And never a blessing miss.(RP)

Friday Bible class ends this week for the summer. I start up a new class on the book of Joshua at church on Sunday, and also preach. We are happy to be able to minister. Rawlie should arrive this evening, and we look forward to this. Thanks for praying.

CHURCH DUTY TODAY

Romans 10:15
And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

A missionary in China returned home one night, his feet all swollen and sore,
He walked in the villages long that day, and he still yearned to reach some more.
He preached Jesus to many who were lost; oh how he prayed they'd be saved,
So many heard and received the Lord; others to their sinful habits were enslaved.
But he never gave up because he needed to go the thousands who didn't  know,

His feet were beautiful because he brought them good news; to the lost he had to go.(RP)

I will be at church today, in case I can help anyone who drops in. I use the time to prepare for classes and sermons. Our son arrives today also. They are refinishing the hardwood floors and it is best to be removed from the lethal vapors used in the product they apply to it.  Rawlie will do his regular work from our home on his computer. He always says the connection to the Internet is better at our house. Margie got a good report from the retina specialist yesterday. We are thankful. Thanks for praying.

BLESSED DAY

For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Cor 5:7

I am glad we don't have to see what's ahead. right around the next bend,
We are only asked to walk by faith and totally on the Lord depend,
He knows so much better what's ahead and I can trust Him for that,
But if I go it alone and walk without Him, I know I will fall down flat.(RP)

We had a wonderful day yesterday. I was honored to be able to preach in our home church, then we joined our family in a town south of us for lunch. It was nice being with them and to see our grandson, Benny who just returned from a six months mission trip. We had a safe trip home and nice evening watching one of our favorite Christian programs. Thanks for praying.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man;but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.(1 Cor 10:13)

When temptations hit me Lord, I am desperately in need of you,
And I acknowledge my pure weakness and I don't know what to do.
But in Your Word you tell me that these things are common to all,
So I come to you dear Jesus and before your feet I fall.
And quickly I learn a good lesson for me on this special day,
With my temptation you make an escape, and I worship You and pray.(RP)

We trust that this will be a great day for all of you. I have the privilege of preaching this morning. We go to a place about 35 miles south of here, to meet our family for lunch. Our grandson Benny is back from his 6 months mission tour and we are looking forward to seeing him. Thanks for praying.

GRANDSON ARRIVES

Ps 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

The world trust things that are temporal and programs that surely defraud

But the glorious recourse we have, is to remember the Lord our God. (RP)

Our grandson, Benny arrived Thursday night from a several-months mission tour which took him to Hawaii and Greece. We will be anxious to see him and hear of his experiences on that journey. He will have a welcome home party this afternoon. We had planned on attending, but at the last moment, Sunday's preacher took ill, so I was asked to preach. I will stay home today and prepare more for that. Thanks for praying.

ANOTHER MESSAGE

Psalm 145:18 The LORD is near to all who call upon Him,To all who call upon Him in truth.

The matter of prayer is a serious thing for all who claim His name,
Some are half hazard and some are sincere, some treat it like a game.
But the Lord said He's near to those calling upon Him,
So be truthful when praying and you'll be filled to the brim.(RP)

The memorial service went well yesterday with a very large attendance. I received a message as soon as we got home that the elder who was to preach Sunday is sick and cannot do it. He asked if I could do it. I am glad to serve, so today I have prepared the outline and will give it to the church secretary via email shortly. We leave in a couple of hours for the Bible study at the Center. Thanks for praying.

MEMORIAL SERVICE

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.  Heb 4:16

God calls us come to the place of prayer and call upon Him for our needs,

And when you do His mercy and grace every expectation exceeds.(RP)

This will be a full day. First thing this morning is to get Margie to the hairdresser, then I go over to the cemetery for the burial service. I go back to get Margie, take her home so she can get ready for the memorial service. Then we try to get to the church as much before 11:30 as possible. That is when it begins. We expect a fairly large attendance because the Beyerlin family has many members. Thanks for praying.

CATCHING UP

Proverbs 10:19 In the multitude of words sin is not lacking,But he who restrains his lips is wise.

Oh the folly of many words spoken without the heart,
Revealing the sin of the speaker and proving he's not very smart.
The ones who are wise surely restrain their lips,

Saving themselves from a serious trap and many a heartache skips. (RP)

I am so glad the Lord helped me to get caught up on all the essential projects I had to do this week.
I am ready for the Friday Bible class and have things under control for the Beyerlin memorial serevice on Thursday. I attended the elder's meeting last night. We are still in the mode of searching for a pastor. Thanks for praying.

WHEEL BEARING

Jer 29:11-13  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart

Oh what a blessing contained in these words written so long ago,
To read that our Lord is thinking of us is something we need to know.
His desire for us is peace indeed and for sure no evil for us,
He desires a future filled with hope and that certainly is a plus.
He exhorts us to call upon Him in prayer and He promises a listening ear,
And all who truly call upon Him, yes, He will gladly hear.(RP)

When we had the regular maintenance done on the car yesterday, I explained to the mechanic that the warning light on the car indicated something I was not able to understand. Thank the Lord for modern technology. The car's computer detected a front rights wheel bearing is defective and needs replacing.  Last year the left side gave out. I guess it is the age of the car. So at noon the car goes in the garage for that repair. I will be at the church this morning. Thanks for praying.

CAR MAINTENANCE

1 Chronicles 16:11 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore!

What a wonderful goal for this new year is the verse before us today,
Let us seek the Lord and His strength, as we move around each day.
We are weak and need His help everyday as we live down here below,
So depend on Him for your daily needs, and His love to others show.(RP)

In a moment I will call the repair shop to see if they can work our car into their schedule. We hope so. I always ask for a loaner car in case Margie needs help.We had a good day yesterday at church and I was privileged to preach. I always enjoy it. We trust you all have a good day. Thanks for praying.

MARGIE'S MEDICATION

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.  (James 1:5)

We all need wisdom day by day as we walk our earthly way,
And God is willing to grant us this so do it without delay.
If you need wisdom, just do what He says;ask Him for what you need,
You'll be the winner and know real soon that in this you will also succeed.
Remember this, that God freely gives and he will not scold or reproach,
So quickly decide my friend to act, and to His throne make your approach.(RP)

Margie's generic heart medication was changed to the brand name. The cardiologist wants to see if her heart will respond more favorably to it. The new medication arrived yesterday. Brand name is very expensive, but our insurance paid $771.09 and we paid $97.00. What a difference. We are thankful. Unfortunately, already this morning Margie felt the a-fib with her pounding heart. This morning I am scheduled to preach, using the verse noted above. I pray God's help for that message, but especially help for Margie's heart. Thanks for praying.

FAMILY MEAL

It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man.Psa 118:8

The world thinks its easy to trust in man's way, because they can see it right here,
But from God's perspective they have it all wrong, because the best is to His word adhere.
Confidence in man always brings many snares and the result is sadness indeed,
So trust in the Lord and be faithful to Him and you'll see how quickly to succeed. (RP)

We had a nice time with family after the Bible class. We met with Margie's brother and sister and spouses. We had not been with them for a long time. After that we stopped to get a couple of things at the grocery store. Its was nice to have the evening at home. I will be preaching tomorrow at our church. So l will do some more meditating on that plus prepare for the funeral Thursday for Ione Beyerlin. Thanks for praying.

ON TIME

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.   II Corinthians 5:21

The heart of the gospel is given here in words so simple and plain,
God laid our sins upon Jesus you see, and won't be repeated again.
When Jesus gave His life for us that day long ago on the cross,
He purchased salvation with His precious blood and we remember the cost.
The righteousness of God is ours by faith and oh what a gift this is,
Eternal life is ours through Him and the glory is solely His.(RP)

At one time today I thought I was not going to be on time for class. I got behind yesterday (and the week), and this morning had to get some last minute studying done before class. Thankfully that is done, so now we are okay. Yesterday Margie's visit to the cardiologist, revealed she was in a-fib when they did the EKG reading. They prescribed the brand name medication, rather than the generic she has been on. Hopefully her heart will respond better to it. Now, we pray the insurance will pay for it. The drug store is in consultation with them about it. Thanks for praying.

FOUR THINGS TODAY

Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.1 Th 5:21-22

God's commands to us in small packages come so we can readily learn,
What He wants us to do as we live for Him and easily life challenges discern.
Let us hold to good things He has taught, and faithfully do them each day,
Abstaining from evil, in every form, and by doing this receive His okay.(RP)

We have four schedules to keep today. One of them is for Margie at the cardiologist. This is a regular check up to monitor how her a-fib is doing. She takes medication every 12 hours for it. The weatherman was right. It is raining today. We had warm weather, now it is cool. We thank you for your prayers. They mean much to us.

NEVER A DULL MOMENT

Matthew 6:33  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you

To have the best in life  we better do things God's way,
Just listen to His Word and do what He would say.
Seeking Him and all He has for us we will win,

And He’ll give us what we should have and that's the way to begin.(RP)

Our "to do" list continues to grow. I had a busy day at the church office yesterday. Several people were in to see me. I also was working on the weekly prayer sheet for the church. One of the Beyerlin daughters dropped by to leave a picture for us to use on the memorial program. The church secretary got a good start on doing it which relieves me greatly. We appreciate her efficient help. The weather is supposed to moderate some today. Thanks for praying.

CHURCH DUTY AND MISSIONARY MEETING

Psalm 34:1  I will bless the Lord at all times;

His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

We spend so much time on and forget to thank the Lord.
We better forget ourselves and try something unexplored.
The Lord deserves our thanks so let's learn to practice it,
Begin right now, and to the Lord your thanks transmit.
When you learn to praise the Lord for all He's done for you,
You'll learn that it happens continually and is certainly fun to pursue.(RP)

I will sit at the church this morning, in case someone comes in and I can help them or pray with them. I know that the Beyerlin family is coming to give a photo of Ione for our memorial program. This afternoon we attend Missionary Meeting, then go home for the rest of the evening. Thanks for praying.

FULL SCHEDULE

Luke 6:37 Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Judging is done so easily, without a thought of what God thinks,
But be sure of one thing my friend, at this thing God never winks,
The same is true of condemning, which believers should never do,
Let God take care of these details; this problem He will review.
And forgiveness is part of our living, make room for it in your life,

And God will forgive you also when there's tension and strife.(RP)

We had lunch yesterday with the guest speaker, Paul Pierce and his wife, Carolyn. It was a nice time visiting, and catching up on things. We have a full week of activities and schedules, so we will be busy. I am preparing for a message next Sunday in our church, and also the regular duties connected to the Friday Bible class. Thanks so much for praying.

GUEST PREACHER

I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust. Psalm 91:2

A refuge at all times is my Lord for me, no matter what comes my way,
Like a fortress so strong is my Lord to me, in Him I am safe every day.
I trust Him today and every day, because I know he cares for me,

And all who have taken this step of faith, will certainly agree. (RP)

This morning we look forward to hearing our guest preacher, Paul Pierce. We have known him for a long time, but never heard him preach. He just resigned from his former church, and is going into Jewish ministry with Friends of Israel. Yesterday we met with the Beyerlin family to make arrangements for Ione's memorial service to be held June 15 in our church. In less than an hour we will be heading down the hill for Sunday School. We trust your day is enjoyable. Thanks for praying.

IONE BEYERLIN

The gospel is simple for people like me, and is easy for most to see,
In Jesus there's life for those who will trust, and to this we readily agree.
Those wanting Heaven must get there God's way. and this through Jesus alone,

And any who delay in doing what's right will be sorry if this decision they postpone. (RP)

Our long time friend Ione Beyerlin died yesterday morning at 7. We heard the news as we checked into the Senior Center for Bible class. Ione was a key figure at the Senior Center for years. She was the only one left of those who started years ago when the Bible class began at the center. Faithfulness was her trademark, and she will be missed. Her family, many of them, are already here. This afternoon we will meet with them about the memorial service. The memorial service will be June 15 at 11:30 am. Thanks for praying.

COUNTDOWN

I am the Lord who heals you. Ex 15:26

Medicine, hospitals doctors and nurses, are
here to help us all,
And thank God for them as they serve mankind, whether the great or small.
God tells us plainly in His Word about healing, and we should hear,
He's our Healer and we thank Him for this as He takes away our fear. (RP)

After our Bible class this morning, we have only 3 more for this season. It goes so quickly. We are sure there is plenty to keep us on the go after this. Yesterday I went to the chiropractor for an adjustment. I needed it, and it really helped me. We trust you all have a good day. Thanks for your prayers.

NORMAL SCHEDULE

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.

Today we need encouragement as we work and toil for the Lord.
And we find it here in words so plain nothing can be ignored.
Jesus who loves us and gives us so much, consoles us and gives other things,
By His grace and comfort  He establishes us and to us His joy brings.
God does all this to help us work, and speak for Him every day,

And surely we can do this day after day keeping Jesus by our lives on display.(RP)

We do the regular things today. This morning I take Margie to get her hair done, and in the afternoon we attend prayer meeting. I will put the finishing touches to Fridays Bible class preparations also. Last night's church fellowship went well, and there was a pretty good attendance. Thanks for praying.
