RELEASED

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 16:11

There is only one path of life; Jesus is His name,
Those who put their trust in Him never will be the same.
With Christ in your life there is boundless joy,
No earthly force can change this or ever destroy.
When Jesus takes us home, He is all that we need,
The pleasures He gives are limitless;this is guaranteed. (RP)

Late yesterday afternoon Margie received her release from the hospital. The doctor gave a detailed regime for her to follow to clear up her system. He said tests again showed some issues with the heart, but nothing apparently serious enough to require immediate attention. We were mighty glad to get home. I elevated the head of the bed and she gave it another try in her bed last night, instead of using the lift chair. She did fairly well, so we will try it again tonight. We are thankful for all who prayed in response to the prayer chain at our church and Laurel Hicks who posted the request on Facebook. Thanks for praying.

ANOTHER TRIP TO THE E.R.

John 8:12
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.

Spiritual darkness is all around, leading souls to a Christ-less end,
If no one gives them the light of Jesus, they never will comprehend.
Jesus the light of the world is our path; in it no darkness is found,
In His presence is light and life, and all who follow Him abound.(RP)

Margie did not have a good Sunday night or Monday She increasingly had abdominal pains caused no doubt by the pain medication. By the time she got to the E.R. waiting room, she was sobbing convulsively with pain. It was pathetic. I urged the attendants to take her as soon as they were able, knowing they could show us no favor. The waiting room was packed with people. She got a place and they began working on her. By the time I left just before 10 PM, she was more relaxed and had had several tests, plenty of blood draws and even an ultra sound test. There was no impaction, thankfully but the intestines were filled.  That was their project last night and today to relieve this problem. No one could be more careful about this than she is. But it still happened.  I will go there mid-morning to be with her.  Thanks so much for praying.  (P.S. Margie just called and had a GOOD night. Things are getting back to normal)

PAIN

Revelation 2:3
And you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name's sake and have not become weary.
To this church comes an encouragement from Jesus; He commended them for their ways,
Their persistence and patience was noteworthy, and for these things He gives them praise.
This church worked for its Master, and in the process never seemed to get tired,
They just kept serving and loving the Lord, and doing the things to which they aspired(RP)

Margie's night was painful. Toward morning she tried to lie on her side because the other position was just too uncomfortable. She finally took some pain medication. She has shunned this for quite some time, for fear of the consequences on her system. We hope and pray she will not have any more negatives because of it. Her pain level was such, we could not attend church yesterday. Our son was here and went home mid-morning. He was sick while here, so we hope he is better today. Thanks so much for praying.

PLENTY OF PAIN

1 Corinthians 10:21
You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord's table and of the table of demons.

Fence-walkers are not a part of God's plan; full dedication is His way,
Don't delve into the demon's cup, and then have communion today.
God delights in those who walk with Him, and stay close by His side.
As they fellowship with Him along the way, and have Him as their guide.(RP)

Margie's pain level is still high. She was told the healing process is long. Even though she had a pretty good night, she doesn't feel up to church today. We will watch and listen to programs here at home. Our son is with us but leaves this morning for his home. He has not been well either, and is taking over the counter medication to get back in shape again. The weatherman predicts snow for today but it probably will not happen. Margie has several doctor appointments this week so we pray she will be up to fulfilling them. Thanks for praying.

TIRED

Colossians 3:23
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.

We have read many times that things done for Christ, last,
Let us continue on for the Lord; for doing this is first class.
Every task that we endeavor should be done for the Lord,
We know that some day His well done will be our reward.(RP)

Margie was tired yesterday. The night before she got one of her best sleeps. Last night could have been better. She had trouble with her heart and breathing. She finally got to sleep the second time and awakened about eight this morning. Rawlie is here and she prepared lunch yesterday for him, but she got tired doing this, so today it will be pizza because it's easy. Rawlie is not feeling well so we don't know how he will awaken this morning. Margie is trying to get better so we can attend church services this week, but I am afraid with her present progress, that may not happen. Thanks so much for praying.

ANSWERED PRAYER

Then the angel said to them, Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.Luke 2:10

Christmas is for everyone, the Shepherds said that morn,
When the world was told that Jesus the Savior was born.
This message continues today by missionaries who tell,
The grand story of redemption, saving mankind from hell.(RP)

Margie and I prayed much that she would be given strength to get through the Christmas brunch with our family. She planned ahead, paced herself and we are thankful it all worked out well. The family was pleased with the wonderful brunch prepared for them. Margie had a good sleep last night which is a blessing. We thank you all for being part of that with us as you prayed.

INDESCRIBABLE GIFT

2Corinthians 9:15
Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

On Christmas day we thank our God for the great gift of His son,
Jesus came to do His father's will, and make sure it was fully done.
This gift on Christmas day is more than words can describe,
It offers salvation to people everywhere, every nation and tribe.
We pray you will receive this gift of life, and enjoy all that it brings,
Multitudes are saved by His grace, whether common folks or kings.(RP)

We are grateful for God's indescribable gift of Jesus to the world. Lord willing, today we will be joined by our family for brunch at our house. Margie has made ample preparation for it despite her back injury. She had a good sleep last night and she is working now in the kitchen preparing food for the occasion.  We have looked forward to this day a long time.  It is a yearly event for us. We were fearful Margie could not do it. Thankfully, at least to this point, she has done quite well. We pray the rest of the day goes well. Thanks so much for praying.  We appreciate it and trust each has a wonderful Christmas.

PREPARED

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting. Micah 5:2

The prophet long ago foretold where Jesus Christ would be born,
The very town where He would come was in the message to warn.
What thing was this for those long ago as they heard this timely news,
And now in the message of Christmas, this verse is what many use.
This verse tells us so much about Jesus, and the work He came to do,
It thrills us to read the old story and be blessed by it through and through(RP)

I admire how Margie has been able to pace herself and still comply with doctor's recommendations concerning movement of her body in therapy. This is part of the healing process. When I see her working away in the kitchen, and knowning she is in much pain, it is hard.  But we know this is part of the healing process. Last night she had a good sleep for which we are thankful. We pray tonight especially for her that she will rest well. Tomorrow is a big day and we want her in the best of health possible for the event. Yesterday we got a lot accomplished and today things will be easier, we are sure.  Thanks so much for praying.

COUNTDOWN

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Matthew 6:33

God's basic rule for fulfillment is this: Seek Him first in all you do,When done His way you will always win, and see that it is true.
God adds to us things that are best for us; this is why we trust,
And oh what a joy to let God run our lives; to this we must adjust.(RP)

In the countdown to Christmas brunch with our family, Margie is well ahead of schedule. She has done some extra baking, as her strength allows. She had a pretty good night, but awakened early, never to sleep again. But the first part was blessed with a sound sleep for several hours. I vacuumed the house in readiness for the "party".  Today I will continue working on some cards. I ran out of ink (something unusual with me), so went to Walgreens for a cartridge. We are thinking today may be a more leisurely day. Thanks for praying.

PLEASED

Leviticus 19:31
Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.

For some there is intrigue in the occult; it appeals to the baser life,
But those who insist and dabble in it, will sooner or later have strife.
God commands that it all be forsaken; seek not things that defile,
Satan is behind all these evils, and we know he will his victims beguile.(RP)

Yesterday attendance at Sunday School went well. We were pleased Margie could do it.  The rest of the day was spent in the normal activity of her therapy routine. The healing process is long and painful. We long for the day, as she says, when she can sleep in her bed again. All are in the countdown now for Christmas. Our family should have arrived from Phoenix last night but no texts were sent so we really don't know how far they got. The last text we had they were just south of Seattle.  Thanks so much for your prayers.

GIVE IT A TRY

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:8

God had you and me in mind when Jesus went to the cross,
He died for us so that we might live and not suffer eternal loss.
What demonstration of love was this, that made Him die for me,
We know he died for each of us; in the Word this is easy to see.
We pray that today as we move about, we'll give Him all the praise,
Thanking Him for what's been done for us and all His gentle ways.(RP)

Margie decided that today she will give it a try. We plan on attending Sunday School. She will not be able to sit through the next service because she has to move about to help the healing process in her spine. We are thankful she is well enough to want to attend today and pray all goes well. She had more pain yesterday which always is a mystery to us how pain really works.  Our family sent a text yesterday stating their goal was to reach Redding, California last night. They left Phoenix at 5 that morning. Hopefull today they will arrive home. Thanks so much for praying.

POSITIVE--NEGATIVE

Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

We are a fearful people and we need God's tender care,
He speaks to us assuredly, urging us to come in prayer.
We need not be dismayed, for His promises are true,
His strength and help are with us, always fresh and new.
Be glad, dear fellow Christian, that our God has us in mind.
And thank Him daily for His love and the fact He is so kind.(RP)

Yesterday was a blessing (positive). Margie attended the last class in our lesson on the book of Revelation. What a special conclusion to a great book of the Bible. She had a good day all the rest of that day. I am not happy to report that today her back is hurting a lot (negative).  We praise the Lord for the good days and pray more when they are not. Our family  left Phoenix this morning at 5 AM, enroute to their home here in Washington state. We pray they have a safe trip.  We are so glad we can text on our phones and keep track of their progress. Thanks for praying.

GRATEFU.L

1 Thessalonians 5:18
In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Prayer is acceptable always, and thankfulness ranks very high,
And as we pray, to our Father we draw nigh.
His will is for us to give thanks in everything we do,
And obedience to this brings us joy through and through. (RP)

We are grateful Margie had a better night and is able to attend Bible study today. Last week she missed it. Perhaps by degrees, even though small, she is improving. Our son called us from Phoenix, and he and his family will be leaving tomorrow for the return trip to Stanwood, WA.  Thus far they have had a very nice time on this mini-trip. It is a windy, rainy morning and apparently more is coming. Margie always says that's better than shoveling snow. She's right. Thanks to each of you for yor prayer support.

CHRISTMAS TEA RINGS

Proverbs 15:21
Folly is joy to him who is destitute of discernment, but a man of understanding walks uprightly.

The foolish go through life with an air of unconcern,
Not knowing much, and have no idea where to turn.
But those who understand God's way, seek His aid,
Joyfully going through life complete and unafraid.(RP)

Have you tasted a Christmas tea ring?  They are delicious. For years Margie has made them and given several away. This year was a real test because she has not been well and she didn't know if she had the strength to go through with this yearly event. Well, typically, she bit the bullet and made it through the day victoriously. She rested in-between and although very tired, did well. I helped her with menial things to get through the project.  She had a good night last night which was a real answer to prayer after that busy day. Thanks for praying.

BAKING

Psalm 25:5
Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day.

Lord this is my prayer; please lead me in your truth today,
I want Your will in my life not just today, but all along the way.
Please teach me the things I need to know to glorify You,
With each lesson, please help me in the next thing I pursue.
Because You are my salvation, I delight Your will to obey,
Help me wait patiently in life, and watch carefully what I say.(RP)

Because of Margie's illness, we did not know if she would be able to do any preparation for the Christmas brunch which is to be at our house Christmas morning. You can be sure much prayer has been made about it. Today Margie started the process of making these special pastry dainties. She will rest and do all the things she is supposed to as she heals, and hopefully accomplish the desire of her heart to make these delicious Christmas tea rings and gooey buns for the family (and neighbors). We will tell you how it goes in tomorrow's commuication. Thanks so much for praying.

WAITING TO HEAL

Psalm 73:28
But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all Your works.

It's always good to draw near to God, for He is our guide and shield,
Trusting Him through all phases of life, His Word to us is revealed.
The more we trust, the better it gets, and this prepares us for work,
And this equips us to declare His works; this duty we must not shirk.(RP)

Waiting and patience is easier said than done. Margie has suffered much with the compound fracture of the spine. Before this happened, she said the shoulder replacement surgery was the most intense. Now this has replaced that pain level. Margie sincerely wants to go ahead with the Christmas brunch with our family and other invited ones. Yesterday she did some baking, taking precautions not to overdo it in anyway to trigger a set-back in her health. Fortunately she succeeded and she rested when needed and it went well. Again, we thank you for your prayer support.

ONE DAY AT A TIME

John 8:31-32 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him,If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

A disciple of Jesus abides in His word, and by this his faith is made clear,
Not only will he know this relationship works, others also know he is sincere.
God's truth is our guideline for all our needs, and the rule by which we live,
It brings freedom and contentment supreme, and always empowers to give.(RP)

Margie would not be quick to say she had a good night especially trying to sleep in a chair.  But it went fairly well.  She longs to be able to stretch out in a bed, but when she does, awakens with screaming pain. I wish we had the answer. The few hours in the hospital, she was in a bed and did not experience these severe pains. But at home, it is agony. With pain medication she makes it through the night. She doesn't want to have to do that very long. Healing is a slow process. With her walking regime, changing hot and cold packs often, we were not able to attend church for the 4th Sunday, yesterday. We thank you for your prayers. They mean much to us.

THANK YOU LORD

Luke 18: 15 - 16
Then they also brought infants to Him that He might touch them; but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to Him and said, Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.

Jesus is the friend of children, He loves them and tenderly cares,
But the disciples not understanding, sought to meddle in His affairs.
Quickly Jesus instructed the men, to let the children receive His love,
God's kingdom includes them too, part of the master plan from above.(RP)

We are so thankful Margie had a good night. Yesterday was also much better. Although the compound fracture pain persists, she is learning to control it better. It is a process. Our son was here for a couple of hours in the afternoon and we enjoyed the visit with him.  By watching herself carefully, Margie was even able to make a simple recipe of rice krispy cookies, which our family members enjoy.  Rawlie initiated them as soon as he arrived. We take one day at a time. Margie is not able to attend church services yet, because she cannot sit very long without moving around. We hope soon, we will be able to start attending again.  Thanks so much for praying.

BETTER

1 Peter 5:6
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.

God asks His children to be humbled before Him, as they live and work and play,
This is the duty we have down here, as we serve Him in our God-given way.
God delights in those who obey, and humbly allow Him to lead them along,
He exalts those who give Him first place in their lives, and gives them a song. (RP)

Yesterday was a tough day for Margie. She felt like all her progress was undone after trying to sleep the night before last on her bed. She yelled with pain trying to get up. It was like a repeat of those days before she experimented with the lift chair. Last night she actually had a pretty good night. Needless to say- she is back in the lift chair for sleeping.During the day, however, she really had a lot of pain. We pray today will go better for her. According to her discharge papers she will see her doctor Tuesday and go over what they determined when she was in the Clinical Discovery Unit at the hospital earlier this week.  We certainly do thank you all for praying. We know we have needed the intercession of friends

HOME

James 1:22
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

To listen and do nothing, is not God's plan for you,
For the one who only listens, deception will ensue.
God demands work from  believers, to fulfill His will down here,
And if done this way by Christians all deceit will disappear.(RP)

Margie was released yesterday afternoon. It is mighty good to be back home. She decided to sleep in her bed last night, because she did well in the bed at the hospital. Wrong decision. She did not have a good night, especially getting out of bed. It was back to the excruciating pain in that process. She has already decided that tonight her sleep will be in the lift-chair. I think it is a wise decision. Thanks for praying. She insists on my doing the Bible study this morning. She will stay here. Thanks so much for praying.

CLINICAL DECISION UNIT

1 Corinthians 2:14
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Those without Christ don't understand His ways,
Watching the Christian who reads His word and prays.
They think it all foolishness; they just don't understand,
They don't have God's Spirit; they can't know firsthand.
But when they invite Jesus into their lives,
Their understanding changes and hope arrives.(RP)

Yesterday Margie was in the E.R., then they moved her to the Clinical Decision Unit. There they do tests and try to determine what help the patient needs. Margie is still in this unit today.  Yesterday was hard on her because the normal routine of exercise and living at home was missions. This made it difficult for her.  The tests were "without end" and last night I left the hospital after 7:30 when they were wheeling her off for another test. Anemia seems to be the thing they are focused on right now.  Who knows, today she may be released. I know she and I hope so. She phoned this morning and said they finally gave her something that helped her sleep. You have all been so supportive of us in prayer.  We deeply appreciate it.

E.R.

O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; ;You understand my thought afar off.You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways..Psalm 139:1-3

Some feel so lonely and believe no one cares,
But believers know something to which nothing compares.
God knows our hearts and where we are now,
And nothing can happen that He does not allow.
So cheer up my brethren God understands all,
And will always be listening when upon Him we call.(RP)

Margie's first part of the night went well. Then at 1:45 she took a pain med, and some sleeping help. Shortly thereafter she called saying she thought she was dying. Shortness of breath and heart pain was prominent. She didn't want me to call 911. Later she said, I better call.  We did and since about 3 we have been there.  She is now in a temporary room for 2 days. She has anemia and that caused her shortness of breath..  I have a full plate today. Please pray and we thank you for it.

GLIMMER OF HOPE

Psalm 34:4
I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

Oh how the Lord must delight in those who seek His face,
He answers them and delivers them and gives them even more grace.(RP)

There is a glimmer of hope on the horizon. Last night even though Margie did not sleep well the first part of the night, she did better after that.  She said she is going to try sleeping in her bed tonight. I will have to warn her that it may be painful after her positive reaction to the lift chair she has been in for several nights.  It was the extreme pain that prompted the move to the lift chair.  It worked. This morning and all night heavy winds assailed our county. The 50 MPH winds make it very difficult to stand upright out there. Thanks so much for praying.

WAKEFUL NIGHT

Proverbs 21:2
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the hearts.

Human nature is so predictable; we think we are doing everything right,
But God has a measure that works; He checks our heart and knows its plight.
God weighs our hearts, and keeps track of us; we need His tender care,
So be careful how you judge what you do; let God help you through prayer.(RP)

Our Sunday was at home. Margie was just too weak to attend. She actually got to the place where she said she had a fairly good day. We are happy for that. Last night however, she did not do well. She was awake most the time. She faithfully does her walking each day, and uses alternate hot and cold packs on her injury. The two medications she takes, hopefully will kick in and begin to show some healing. Already it is a miracle she discovered the lift chair for her sleeping. Before it was sheer agony to get out of bed. She even gets out of her lift chair and other chair she uses in the daytime, without my being there to help. So this is progress and we are thankful. Thanks for praying. It means much to us.

LIFT CHAIR

The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father's God, and I will exalt Him.
Exodus 15:2

When we are weak, we need strength and in the humdrum of life a song,
God gives us these things when we are in need, because to Him we belong.
He saved us and is our salvation, our God whom we praise all day long,
Exalt him today as you go in His way; He is our God mighty and strong.(RP)

Margie's lift chair has been her helper a long time. With her compound fracture, however, the reclining and upright movement gave great pain to her. She is using my office chair which has arms on it to aid her in helping to lift herself and into the roller. I am there to steady the roller so it won't "roll". Faithfully yesterday she used ice and hot packs on her injured spine. At night she decided to sleep in the lift chair. In the afternoon she was so exhausted, she tried it and slept for 2 hours. Last night was a test. Praise the Lord she did well, and there was no screaming pain upon getting into the standing position. And this morning she got herself up and into the roller while I was still sleeping. It appears we have a milestone here. We are thankful. Please keep praying. Her back aches plenty this morning but the ice and hot packs are being applied.  Thanks so much for praying.

NO QUICK CURE

Matthew 6:27
Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

Worry is the plague of the day, it wears its victims down,
When it starts, it just keeps on, and leads its captives around.
We know that worrying gets us nowhere; and only sorely hurts,
Give it to God right now; let worry have its just desserts.(RP)

Although it is hard to hear this news, we know we have to accept it. There are no quick cures for compound fractures. The medication Margie is on we know will take weeks until she feels any relief.  This is so hard for her. Today she feels the pain is the most severe it has been. She is trying a new technique of getting out of bed during the night.  It worked a little better this morning but there is still great pain. The Bible class went well yesterday and we even had two new members. They love the book of Revelation. Thanks for praying. We appreciate it.

COMPOUND FRACTURE

Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another;love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous.
I Peter 3:8

A timely word to believers is given in this verse,
We better pay attention not doing something adverse,
The command is very practical- and something we should do,
So begin today to practice it because it's all very true. The treatment we give each other is clearly outlined here,
What wonderful blessings will come forth as each one is sincere.(RP)

Margie's pain was so severe we made another appointment. Her regular doctor was off duty so another took her. He was the same doctor who was our daughter Joy's when she lived in the facility at Lynden, WA. He ordered another x-ray and before we went to prayer meeting at church, phoned to give the results. She has a compound fracture in the lower spine. Amazingly the newest treatment for this is a nasal spray. She has already taken the first treatment. We know it is going to take TIME to heal. This morning the pain was so excruciating. She said it was the worst yet. Getting out of bed is the most crucial of all movements. Thanks for praying for her. We really appreciate it.

SETBACK

Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

How many times have we fled to this verse for the comfort it gives us today,
Even though the word ALL baffles our minds, we still know it's true all the way.
We want God's will no matter what, so ask for grace to meet every trial,
Then try to react to the problems of life, and never be guilty of denial.
Lord we hurt today, but are clinging to Your word; help us Your will to do,
And through all the aches and pains of life, may we ever to Your cause be true.(RP)

We had hoped the medication to work quicker than it has. Unfortunately, Margie had a very negative day yesterday. Last night the process of getting her settled in bed was a sad event. The pain was so intense, she felt she could hardly take more. Even though her doctor is not on duty today, we are going to contact the medical group she is with, asking if we may see another of her associate doctors. Margie has to have some sort of relief.  Yesterday our dear friend Lonnie Vaughn, invited us to lunch with a couple who are missionaries in Brazil. We had such a good time.Margie got home and the pain started to increase. That's where we are as I write these words. We awakened at 5 and she moved to her lift chair, knowing she could not lie in bed anymore. We call the doctor at 8 and go from there. Thanks SO MUCH for praying.  We are grateful.

CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC

Joshua 18:3
Then Joshua said to the children of Israel: How long will you neglect to go and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers has given you?

There are so many works we can do for God; He has called us to do these things,
Could it be you have neglected to work for Him; and to your heart sorry brings.
Right now serve the Lord in the way you can; this is what you always should do,
And you will be blessed because you obey, and honor Him in all you pursue.(RP)

Margie saw her doctor yesterday who told her that contusions are painful and have to work themselves out of the system.  This can take a long time. We already knew this but were at least encouraged by her prescription for a medication that will reduce the swelling and hopefully heal sooner.  In one way she did better last night.  She did not awaken as much, but to get out bed is AGONY.  Getting herself to the edge of the bed and in an upright position is the challenge. I have always helped her do this but when I touch her back, she screams with pain.  So she has to do all this on her own.  It is hard to see her in such pain. We are at least a little bit more optimistic that perhaps this pain level will be reduced.  Please pray with us that it will be so.  Thanks so much for praying.

HOPE FOR TODAY

1 John 2:28
And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

Jesus is coming and we look forward to this; what a glorious day that will be,
To see Jesus is the dream of all who love him; what a day of joy and glee.
In this life we want to be sure of one thing: that we abide faithfully in Him,
Fellowship is sweet and when he appears, we will not be ashamed or grim.
So keep looking for Jesus who is coming soon, the time cannot be far away,
Be ready for Him with heart ready to go;for it could happen on this very day. (RP)

Yesterday and last night were very tense for us. Margie's pain level has increased. Apparently the therapy suggested by the E.R.doctor has not even begun to help. Bed for her is a misery. We are so thankful Tuesday has arrived and soon we will be on our way to see her doctor. We pray she will have some alternative treatment plan that can help Margie. Margie told me this pain does not compare with the dreadful suffering she had with the shoulder replacement surgery. It must be intense. We thank you for praying. We will let you know tomorrow how things go today.

HOW LONG?

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him. Matthew 7:11

Prayer is a mighty thing God allows his children to use,
I am sure some rightly use it; others may actually abuse.
Parents are usually trusted to give good gifts to their kids,
God definitely knows how to give them; but some He forbids.
We learn to trust God every day, and let Him give us what is best,
Then we will be content, knowing full well he has answered our request.(RP)

We wonder how long it will take for Margie to get some relief. Thankfully we see her doctor Tuesday and we hope she has some other suggestions on how to give her some pain-free living. It has been terrible, especially at night. To lie in bed is agony until she gets into a certain position. Pain medication is not sufficient to give the relief she needs. We are glad the Lord knows all about it and we are thankful for the prayers of our friends for her well-being. Today Margie sees her cardiologist. It was long  time ago she was in for heart issues.  Just now he is able to see her so hopefully there was nothing urgent with her condition.  We will report on that tomorrow. Thanks so much for praying.  We were not able to go to church yesterday. We missed it too.

PRAYER FOR A CHANGE

Proverbs 14:26
In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, And His children will have a place of refuge.

Trusting the Lord brings a wealth of good; all who do know it well,
Strong confidence is for those who trust; they who do think its swell.
Thank God in Him there is refuge secure; they who have it give thanks,
And their life with Christ is precious indeed; they will never break ranks.(RP)

Margie did not have a good day yesterday. The pain level was intense all day.  Last night she had an awful time getting to sleep. At midnight we were still trying to help her. As I write this she is asleep at 8:00 AM. She really hesitates to take the pain medication but during the night I insisted, and perhaps that's why she is still sleeping. The doctor told her she has to keep things in motion.  She certainly tries by doing a lot of walking with the roller-walker, but there is no relief. She sees her regular doctor Tuesday. The E.R. doctor told her to see her doctor within 3 days. Tuesday was the only time-slot available with the doctor. We appreciate your prayers. Please pray also for a friend, Pastor Steve Finkbonner, who had a heart attack. Thanks for praying

A DIP

2 John 1:7
For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Our enemy is set to deceive the world; this is his earnest desire,
He uses men who confess not Jesus; this is how they conspire.
They preach flowery words to lead men astray; this is how they work,
Their deceitful message sounds so good; this duty they do not shirk.
The Word calls them antichrists because they are false and fakes,
And all who succumb to their evil ways, will suffer eternal aches.(RP)

Margie awakened with quite a bit of pain. She did have a good night, however. We figure this must be "a dip" in here recovery period. We are sorry it is this way, but keep hanging on, in hopes things will get better by and by. She is doing a lot of walking with her roller just to keep her body in motion. The doctor at E.R. told her she must exercise her body for the healing process to take place properly. She is trying her best to do this. She is baking a pie for our son, whose birthday is Monday. It is his favorite: chocolate. Cold weather moved into our county overnight. It snowed, with heavy winds and was 20 degrees F. when we awakened this morning. Thanks dear friends for your prayers.

E.R.

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
James 1:2-3

We all need patience that's for sure, and here we are told how to get it,
We learn to face trials with courage and faith and this we must admit.
Next time a trial comes, face it with courage and joy,
And you'll be the winner, and victory will come as you God's will employ.(RP)

We never know what a day may bring forth.  After an afternoon with our family to celebrate Thanksgiving, we returned home. At bedtime, Margie's back pain, the result of her fall the 19th,was so severe we had to take her to the emergency at the hospital in Bellingham. A series of x-rays were taken and the result was a contusion to her lower back. The doctor made sure Margie could maneuver about with a walker before he would dismiss her. We finally got home and around 2 a.m. got to bed. The most painful experience she has is getting in and out of the bed.  It is pretty excruciating and I must be there to help her. We appreciate your prayers for her as she heals from this terrible blow to her system. Thanks for praying.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING !

On this Thanksgiving day, there is much for us to say,
We lift our voices to the Lord, and thank Him for this day.
His goodness to us after all, is the very best of all,And extends to every soul, no matter if great or small. Because of His mercy we are not all consumed,
And if it were not for his love, we would all be doomed.(RP)

We are thankful for so many things today. We are sure you are too.  We thank God for family and we all plan to be together for an afternoon meal.  Margie has done some preparation for this meal along with our family members. Margie is having much pain so Friday and or Monday she will be checking with her doctor about this. It is the result of her fall last Wednesday. We pray your day will be a blessing.  Thanks so much for praying

PREPARATION

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged
sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and
marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The Bible, God's word is the most wonderful book,
For those who have it and into its pages look.
It is powerful and very sharp, greater than any knife,
And is able to solve problems great, and calm every strife.
It knows all about us, and discerns every thought and intent,
It will wonderfully help you in every way,and you will be content
(RP)

We are getting ready for Thanksgiving. I published our blog this morning but Margie's brother called to say he saw nothing there and was concerned about us. I have no clue what  happened because I did it this morning but it obviously got lost in cyberspace. This is Wednesday evening and I will publish this right now, and tomorrow will write another.  Sorry to you who follow us each day on this blog.  Thanks for praying.

ENDOSCOPY

Ephesians 3:12
In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.

What a friend we have in Jesus; we have access to Him in prayer,
And the help we find in His presence is something beyond compare.
We come boldly to His throne finding help for each and every need,
And the confidence He gives us surely makes us know we will succeed.
It's by faith we go to Him because He invites us with love to that place,
And we know that all this happens because of His matchless grace.(RP)

In 2006 the doctors discovered I have barrett's esophagus. This condition makes it mandatory I control my diet or else malignancy could result.  So I have been fairly careful through the years. It's really no sacrifice as far as I am concerned.  This morning I have another upper endoscopy (going down the throat) to check the present conditon of things. The results I should know soon after the exam. Margie is still suffering from her fall last Wednesday. Her back seems to be the most crucial "hurt" she has.  We appreciate your prayers for us.  A friend of ours, Charlotte Boraker will take me for the test.  Margie does not drive anymore.

PREPARATION

Proverbs 11:2
When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom.

A proud person blows his own horn, and all can hear it well,
He boasts a lot and talks so much that his head begins to swell.
With all his pride and worldly ways, he is overcome with shame,
And when this happens he has to reflect, and only himself blame.
There are others who walk humbly in life; their story is a blessed one,
Wisdom is their portion each day and they with God's help have won.(RP)

There is a lot of preparation going on around here these days. Margie is getting ready for Thanksgiving which will be at our son's house. Then she is baking some cookies for the Light House Mission in Bellingham.  I am preparing for the upper endoscopy test tomorrow in Bellingham.  I was fighting a cold but thankfully it seems to be on the downside now, so things are better.  We were not able to attend church yesterday. Margie was still pretty sore from her fall last Wednesday and I was not in good shape to be in public. We enjoyed Christian programs at home and enjoyed our son who was here for most of the day. Thanks so much for your prayers,

UNDER THE WEATHER

It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes.
Psalm 119:71

Afflictions and illness are plagues that assail us; we all have had them at times,
And it matters not our status in life, or how far one goes down or climbs.
David left us an example worthwhile, when down he used it for good,
From God's Word lessons were learned, and through sickness he understood. (RP)

As the old cliche explains: I am under the weather. thankfully I was able to do the Bible class and all was ok, but things went downhill from there.  I have an important endoscopy Tuesday and I pray I will be able to go through with it.  Then two days later we are supposed to be in Stanwood for Thanksgiving with our family. I am glad it is all in the Lord's hand, Margie also did not feel up to church attendance today either after her earlier fall in the week. So we would appreciate prayer for our bodies that I could still have the test for my esophagus on Tuesday. Thanks so much for praying.

FAMILY

John 13:35
By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

God loves us so much he sent Jesus to save our soul,
He forgave our sins and made each of His children whole.
The world around us is looking, and notes how we act,
The way we treat others, certainly makes an impact.
Our love for each other, tells the world who we are,
Keep loving the people you meet, it will take you far.(RP)

Yesterday we had a great class on Revelation. People were so attentive and participated well in the discussion of the text.  It was a blessing. The Lord was obviously speaking to some of the class members through the study. We are grateful.  We had lunch with Margie's siblings which is very meaningful to her. Many of those meetings she missed due to illness. Today Rawlie, our son will be here. We look forward to lunch time fellowship. He will also stay the night, we are sure. Thanks so much for yor prayers.

THANKFUL

Lamentations 3:25
The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.

People are seeking so many things as they live from day to day,
Some things are right and others are not, but we all want our way.
God delights in those who truly seek Him, and His dear will pursue,
Blessings will come as they walk with Him and to His cause be true. (RP)

We are thankful we can teach another class today in the book of Revelation. Margie had a chiropractic treatment yesterday and had a fairly good night despite her aches and pains. The weatherman warns of strong winds and rain today. Snow will be in the mountains. This is our last class until December because of the Thanksgiving break. We look forward today to lunch with Margie's siblings in Bellingham. Thank you so much for your prayers.

BRUISED BUT NOT DOWN

Ps 37:23
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way.

When God saves us He helps us to do good,
And this truth by His children is understood.
We walk every day to please Him in everything,
And thus to His name all praise and glory bring.
He delights in the good steps we take each day,
And our day is blessed as we meditate and pray(RP)

After Margie's scary fall yesterday, she continued on throughout the day, sore but determined. It was an awful crash to the floor. I had no idea what I would find when I got there. Thankfully she is not hurt worse. We pray she gets back to normal and the bruises and hurts disappear soon. She had a pretty good night and this morning is ironing the clothes. She insists on doing some of these chores. I used to do them but she has made wonderful progress since those dreadful days when she was so ill. Thanks so much for your prayers.  We appreciate them greatly.

ANOTHER FALL

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.
2 Chronicles 16:9

The Lord is watching over us through all our trials each day,
And oftentimes it's hard for us to understand His way.
We know that there's a reason for things that come to us,
Through them He speaks to us, and thus we must adjust.
Pray for all who find the trials sore, and hard to keep the pace,
And may they know His loving care and pour on them His grace. (RP)

Margie fell again this morning. This is so painful for her to experience and me to witness. We have tried so many ways to protect her but invariably something happens and she falls. It happened this morning when she was doing her physical therapy. Please pray she will not become more discouraged than she is already. She is sitting in her lift chair now with ice on her face trying to calm down the swelling. She has prayed fervently that the Lord would keep her from falling, so when this happens you can understand, I am sure, how sad she feels. We pray she will not have any serious results from this. Of course we are monitoring her closely. Thanks so much for your prayers.

ONE MORE

Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

Many may think they know what is good, but God's Word tells us for sure,
We are to live justly, and He makes us just, when we His salvation procure.
Christians love mercy because of His mercy; what a wonderful thing to possess,
And He requires we walk humbly with Him every day; doing this for us is success.(RP)

Today we have one more trip to the doctor for Margie. Yesterday she lined up also appointments with the physical therapist to help her with the left shoulder.  She starts those next week or so. Yesterday we had a good day.  I made good progress on my Revelation studies, and even prepared another study sheet for the future.  I am ahead in the process and that is great.  We trust you have a good day.  We thank you for praying.

CALM

Children are a gift from the Lord.
Psalm 127:3

God's gift to parents is children, for their pleasure and His glory,
How they rear them is their duty, and the results soon tell the story.
When parents understand these gifts, how beautifully things turn out,
But those who leave God out, leave room for much pain and doubt.
Give your children to God, and pray He will guide them every day,
And with your help He will do this, as you work with them and pray.(RP)

It appears things are much calmer this week. Last week we had an appointment each day and for two of them we had multiple responsibilities. It is a beautiful day, with colder temperatures. As always, our main thrust is prepartion for Friday's Bible class. That process is always enjoyable.  We had a wonderful day yesterday at church and our family was here for part of the day and that is always a plus. Those who have email and desire to have my new cell phone information, I will be glad to send it.  Thanks for praying.

TOGETHER

Psalms 27:14
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

It takes so much work to just wait, and that's why God orders it so,
Don't ever go ahead of the Lord so that he will have to say whoa!
Wait for the Lord, that strengthens you, and gives your heart new life,
And prepares you so well for God's joy today and keeps away added strife.(RP)

Yesterday we had our family with us. It was special having them for lunch. They are here to check on their buildings, especially the one they are doing some major work on. They are here today but we will not see them much because they are busy. I was able to get a good start on my studies for the book of Revelation. This morning we will attend Sunday School and worship at our church. We look forward to this. A new Sunday School class will start so our classes are being moved to different locations. This afternoon we plan on a leisurely time to watch some Christian programs and do some reading. Thanks for praying.

YESTERDAY

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.
Rev. 21:4

In life there is sorrow, pain and death, all seem to come our way,
But for the believer in Jesus there is very good news today.
When we see Him in heaven, God's handkerchief will dry each tear,
And all the negatives we've experienced, will each one disappear.
These things will never again haunt us, because He takes them away,
Throughout all the ages in heaven, His love for us will be on display.(RP)

The Bible class went well on Friday.  We had a "full house" even though some were absent. After the class Margie and I and her brother George (Spud) and his wife Margaret Monroe, drove to Mt. Vernon to see a special family. The Lofdahls were part of our lives years ago at First Baptist in Ferndale. Now they are all living in different places. Margie's brother had not seen some of them for 50 years. It was a very special time to visit the three different Lofdahl children when we went to Chinese buffet for our meal.  Wayne, Ed and Gerry and their spouses were the ones we visited Also Gerry gave Margie many beautiful items of clothing, something she has done for years. Margie has always looked GREAT in these specially hand-picked dresses and items given her by Gerry. We are so indebted to her and her husband Glen for all they have done for us.  Thanks so much for praying.

THE END IN SIGHT

For whom the LORD loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights.
Proverbs 3:12

Our heavenly Father delights in His own, and leads us day by day,
At times things get tough, and He corrects us, to keep us in His way.
We thank Him for the love He shows as we live and go through life,
And we are indebted to Him for the way He gets us through each strife.(RP)

We are able now to see the end of our study of the book of Revelation. In chapter 20 today we study about the thousand year reign of Christ. What a wonderful section of Scripture. It is cold this morning here in Washington. But it doesn't even come close to other parts of the country where much snow has fallen. The other activities of today we will talk about in tomorrow's blog. We pray you all have a great day. Thanks for praying.

GOOD ADVICE

Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.
Exodus 13:17

We have a merciful God who leads us gently and wisely along,
In places we don't understand but all to escape the wrong.
We choose a route that looks good, but God knows the end,
So he leads us another way, because on Him we can depend.
God's chosen path for us is best, and we should thank Him now,
Praise His name for leading us and at His feet humbly bow.(RP)

Margie's doctor ordered an x-ray of her aching shoulder. She phoned later to report that arthritis is the cause of pain. No surgery needed. We are thankful. She suggested seveal treatments.Margie chose the physical therapy route. I think this is the best decision. She will call the doctor and request authorization from our insurance company to begin the therapy sessions. Today Margie has her hair done and in the afternoon we attend prayer meeting at the church. The wind is fairly strong and it is cold (for us). Trust you have a good day. Thanks for praying

RELIEF

Romans 5:5
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Christ is our hope and he disappoints none,
It will be that way until life's work is done.
God's love is what drew us to receive the gift,
And with life in Him the blessings are swift.
How thankful we are for the Holy Spirit given,
And our sins, which are many, He has forgiven.(RP)

Margie's doctor yesterday ordered an x-ray on her left shoulder. She (Margie) was concerned that a repeat of her right shoulder surgery may be a possibility. We are thankful the reading did not show that, and Margie was encourged to just keep the shoulder and arm moving. So even if it hurts, that's the best treatment for it. We were relieved with this report. Today Margie goes to her ophthamologist for another test which is routine. High winds are forecast (and blowing right now) and the temperature dipped lower during the night.  I guess I better get the snow shovel out of storage.  It may be needed for the driveway sooner than we expected. Trust your day is going well.  Thanks for praying.

GET READY

Matthew 6:15
But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Forgiveness seems hard for so many; grudges are easy to hold,
Instruction is plainly given by God what to do; in this verse we are told.
So forgive when it is the right thing to do; don't hesitate to make this move,
For God sees your heart and understands well; of this action He does approve.(RP)

According to the weather man, we must be prepared now for colder weather. Already this morning it is colder, especially with the wind chill factor.  I take Margie to her doctor in Lynden this morning. She goes for a regular visit.  This week we have appointments each day so we are on the road a lot. We trust you all will have a good day. Thanks for praying.

APPOINTMENTS

Jeremiah 9 :23,24
Thus says the Lord: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me,That I am the Lord, exercising loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight, says the Lord.

Mankind is proud of many things but these three are the most:
Wisdom, might and riches, are the things about which he boasts.
God's way is better for us, because He wants us to know His ways,
To experience His loving kindness and all His righteous displays,
He delights in what is offered and His judgment is without fault.
And all who receive these blessings, desire His name to daily exalt.(RP)

This week is filled with appointments of various kinds. Each day this week there is some schedule that has to be met. So with our agenda before us we face the week.  This morning we go to Margie's retina specialist to see how her eyes are doing. With macular degeneration of the "wet" variety, the future is not real bright (except in Christ). We'll report tomorrow what the doctor says.  Yesterday we had a quiet afternoon at home, after church.  We spent the time watching Christian programs and tuning into the Old Fashion Revival Hour with Charles Fuller. What a blessing that was with the marvelous music offered and a solid message. We trust your day goes well. Thanks for praying.

ANTICIPATION

Jeremiah 51:15
He has made the earth by His power; He has established the world by His wisdom, And stretched out the heaven by His understanding.

Power, wisdom and understanding were God's method of creating things,
The earth, world, and heavens were the target of the King of kings.
How marvelous are His works, manifested around us every day,
We stop and praise His name for this wonderful creation on display.(RP)

Isn't it wonderful to anticipate the time we will have in church today. Sunday morning is always a blessing. Soon we will be in Sunday School, studying the Word of God.  We sincerely look forward to it. The rain and wind do not "dampen" our spirits. Yesterday we took it a little easier. I did help a friend get their laptop so they could receive e-mail attachments. They were happy about that. I also completed two more future stdudy sheets for the Bible class on Revelation. Soon we will be finished with that study. We trust your day goes well. Thanks for praying.
