"Out of the woods"

This well worn expression dates back to Roman times when one was lost in the forest and finally got out of the woods.I (Ralph) have been sick since Tuesday, but am thankfully out of the woods now.  I plan to get back into the routine and get some things done today that sort of laid dormant part of the week.  Margie, who was very tired after our three appointments this week, is also out of the woods.  She had a very good night and so did I.  Now we rejoice as preparations are made, Lord willing, for going to church tomorrow.
