GOD'S SCALES

1 Samuel 2:3 Talk no more so very proudly; Let no arrogance come from your mouth, For the Lord is the God of knowledge; And by Him actions are weighed. 

Step onto God's scale right now;He will weigh you right.

His verdict will assess you, and bring all things to light,

He knows what you talk, and how you walk, every day.

And His verdict will alarm you, as you go on your way.

Our Lord knows our thoughts as we read this right now.

Please come quickly to Him, and at His feet humbly bow.  (RP)

May this Scripture verse be embedded in our thoughts today, as we go about our way.  I am so thankful for Rawlie, who took me to church yesterday. He wanted to hear me preach. What a joy to proclaim God's word. Thanks for praying.

PREACH THE WORD

Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.2 Tim 4:2                                                                                         

God's command is strong and straight in the things He would have us do.

We better take heed to His words, and diligently learn to pursue.

When the Word is preached by faithful ones, and taught in a meaningful way,

Many things take place in the hearers, we're told, so it behooves us to readily obey.

Be ready is the word, and longsuffering is required, of those who faithfully preach,

They will receive very much in reward, and look at how many they reach.  (RP)

Pastor Kiyle Decker is preaching and teaching the Word in Togo today. Pastor Dave Lunsford is doing likewise, and we are praying for their ministries there. What a privilege it is.  I am blessed to be asked to preach here at First Baptist in Ferndale. I am also blessed because my son, Rawlie, is here. He wanted to hear me. I am grateful. Thanks for praying.  

GOD'S SCHOOL OF PRAYER

But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your 

Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Matthew 6:6

Help me find the secret place 

Where I may pray to You,

And surely find your blessings 

Which I know will not be few.  (RP)

I pray that today we may all learn the real value of personal prayer. There is so much to experience. Let us slip into God's school of prayer, His Word, and learn as much as we can. Thanks for praying. 

ONE YEAR AGO TODAY

Acts 10:43 To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.

All the Word witnesses the riches of God, by His promised remission of sins,

This wonderful forgiveness is explained in God's Word, and with faith it all begins. (RP)

One year ago today I was operated on for a goiter growing on my left thyroid. It was down in my chest area, and was as big as my heart.  God graciously brought me through that.  In the process however, I lost my voice and the ability to swallow without aspirating. Through the doctor and our loving Lord, my voice was restored. The swallowing difficulty is still with me, but wonderfully  helped with a stomach peg-tube by which I administer nutrients via a syringe.  God is good and my health is too, for which I praise Him.Thanks for praying. 

GOD'S CHOICES

But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty  1 Cor 1:27

The world thinks we're foolish as onward we go,

But the truth of the matter is, we're really not slow.

The wise in their thinking are the ones who lose,

And God keeps on helping them the wise to confuse,

The mighty may think they are winners indeed,

But God helps the weak ones in all that they need.  (RP)

WHAT ABOUT TODAY?

I told pastor Decker before he left for his ministry trip to Togo, Africa, that I would come to the church in the morning hours, when possible. I can do my work there on my computer. I want to be there in case my help is needed by the secretary, or others who may come to the church. Please pray for Pastor and Mrs Decker and Pastor Dave Lunsford as they minister in Togo the next few days. Thanks for praying.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Psalm 118:24

This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.

The New Year starts this very day and what a day it is,

God made it for us and we are glad, because it's totally His.

Let us rejoice in what God has made, and smile the whole day through,

And dedicate ourselves to Him again and begin a year that's brand new. (RP)

Here we are in the New Year.  Is it a fresh start for you? Are we willing to give this year to the Lord, and allow HIM to direct our steps? I pray it will be so. Determine to read the Bible, pray, and tell others of your faith in Jesus Christ. What a year it will be, if we can fulfill these goals. Thanks for praying.
